· A drop in oil pressure doesn't always mean a leak is present. It could just imply it's due for an oil change. It could also mean a faulty part, such as an oil pump or oil sensor. If the oil indicator light comes on while driving, your best bet is to pull over and check the oil ….
Send message »If there is a buildup of oil around the outside of the valve chamber where the cover attaches, the gasket may be worn and require replacing. To confirm the source of the leak, wipe away the oil buildup and run the engine for a short time. If oil returns to the same area, it is likely that a worn valve gasket is the cause of the oil leak.
Send message »Its one, or more, of three typical things: leaking distributor o-ring, leaking front engine seal or the oil pump cover. This leak kit looks to cover all three of those things. This kit includes: • OEM Oil Pump Cover o-ring (-) • Distributor o-ring (-).
Send message »· My fuel pump is leaking oil. Motor is a 17.5 Briggs and Stratton (31F707 E1) on a 17 year old JD L100 Motor sounds and runs great. I just replaced the head gasket last night as I thought that was the problem. Checked the oil level, tube from dipstick to fuel pump, hose from crankcase to.

Send message »· When the hitch is raised or lowered the hitch control valve simply blocks the flow of oil and forces the pump into standby. The most likly source of a oil leak on the control valve would be from around the control valve packings. Let me see if I can round up a diagram quick like.
Send message »· The oil pump seal was a bit leaking, and after removing the oil pump I found the previous job from ~10 years ago had used the spaghetti rubber gasket and also smeared permatex grey around the seal. See pictures below. I removed that and used a new spaghetti rubber seal and just some shin-etsu silicone to hold it in place.
Send message »· It was hard to identify where it's coming from, so I spent about 1 hour this past weekend degreasing the bottom of the car/engine to try and locate the leak. Once the bottom looked nice and clean, I started the engine and within a few seconds saw a small leak, that I "think" is coming from the oil pump cover gasket.
Send message »Leaks can result from damage to the oil pump or the filter through which oil passes before burning. A ruptured oil feed line will also produce a leak. Faulty valves and gaskets, which are meant to provide a tight seal when the fuel passes from one line or reservoir into another, are responsible for some leaks.
Send message »In any pump there is always the possibility of leakage and the design of the pump will dictate where the most likely leak point is. Many times the shaft that connects the pump to the motor will have a fluid seal around it to keep the hydraulic fluid contained to the pump end of the equipment.
Send message »· The oil pump on my 600 triple is allowing oil to leak into the cylinders. After I pulled it out storage, the clutch side cyl. had about 3-4oz of oil lying in the bottom of the case. I noticed it leaking from the injector. I pulled the pump off but not sure what to do since I've never worked on an oil injection pump ….
Send message »· One such instance would be the vanes, specifically their rubbing edges. Dealing with Oil Mist This high-velocity movement of the oil is great for preventing air leaks throughout the interior of the pump. However, turbulent oil flow may result in an oil mist, especially on the pump's exhaust side.
Send message »· Seeing the oil I would think that it's coming from the oil pump. All that's used to seal the pump is Honda Bond (sealant) and once the seal breaks you have to do what's called an oil pump rehousing. It's not that difficult to do yourself (I did mine) just a little time consuming. A dealership will probably charge you between $750-$900 to do it.
Send message »· the oil leak at the back of the engine is most likely from the vacuum pump for the braking system. that pump bolts up to the back of the camshaft and the camshaft is what turns the pump. its common, not expensive and easy to replace with the right tools.

Send message »· The oil leak indeed was originating from the oil pump. I had to pull the timing belt, exhaust, oil pan and pump off. Then had to clean the crap out of everything and then schmoogie honda bond on the necessary parts (oil pump and oil pan). Then reinstall. The job took about 8 hours or so from start to finish in the garage working without a lift.

Send message »· That gasket can be easily replaced if it's leaking. What is much more involved is accessing the two o-rings on the back side of the oil pump or the mating surfaces of the oil pump and block (I think Honda just calls for liquid gasket here) because accessing any of this requires dropping the oil pan and part of the exhaust.
Send message »· I have an Edelbrock Performer mechanical fuel pump on my 351w engine. It has only 154 miles on it right now, but at about 100 miles it mysteriously had an oil leak. I searched everywhere until I finally isolated the leak to the fuel pump or in-line fuel filter. I was pretty confused as that is a fuel line, not oil.
Send message »· Good job, good info. I have done many repairs on the Sachs Dolmar, Dolmar and now Makita saws and the oil leak is a common problem on those saws. On many of the leakers I could stop them by judiciously cleaning all the parts like you did to get all oil off all parts including the existing oil line, then used the same black Permatex to seal it.

Send message »· The oil pan is located at the bottom of the engine. It will be damaged over time as debris hits the bottom of the pan and leaves dents. If you have an aluminum oil pan, there is a risk that you hit something under the car, which caused cracks in the oil pan where the oil leaks from.
